Tuggerah Lake is such a wonderful and peaceful place. On this day, instead of taking the bus, I decided to get off the main road and walk from Long Jetty into The Entrance via the Coast to Lake Walk.

I hadn’t walked along the jetty at Long Jetty – hence its name – in such a long time that I couldn’t pass up the chance to do so on such a beautiful day. Built in 1915, the jetty was originally used to bring travellers to the area via boat. Measuring 351 metres in length, it’s one of the highlights of the Central Coast and stands gracefully on Tuggerah Lake, waiting for people to to stroll its boards either for fishing or to enjoy the scenery.

The views from the jetty are lovely and the memories standing at the end of it were happy ones. But I needed to keep walking as it was late afternoon and The Entrance was a number of kilometres away.

The walk from Long Jetty took me to places I had never seen before we along the lake. The small bridges, hidden paths to homes and breathtaking scenery.

Not many locals are on the walk. Perhaps because they know it’s there, but if this was in my backyard, I’d be on the path everyday.

As the sun was setting, the sun on the water made the Lake turn into a more beautiful place. The closer I got to The Entrance, the reflections on the water became more and more beautiful. I felt like I was in Heaven and I could leave all my troubles behind.

People were sitting at the waters edge, watching the sun set, having a drink to end the day. But it was quiet, except for the song of the birds coming home to roost for the night. The end to a perfect day.
